Tuesday, November 21st, 2023.- Americans Andrew Bogdanov and David Wagner advanced to the semifinals of the quad doubles, after defeating Canadians Mitch McIntyre and Robert Shaw 6-3, 3-6, 10-2 in the tiebreaker in a hard-fought match that lasted more than two hours.
In the entire Santiago 2023 wheelchair tennis competition, it is only the second match to be defined in three sets, or in this case, in a long tie break. In this way Wagner, ranked number three in the world, recovered from the crushing defeat he suffered in his singles debut against Brazilian Leandro Pena by 6-0 and 6-2.
The Americans will now face Chileans Diego Perez and Francisco Cayulef for a place in the final. The latter is also among the top four in singles, while Perez was eliminated today in the quarterfinals.
The other semifinal will be played by Brazilians Ymanitu Silva and Leandro Pena against Colombians Daniel Campaz and Alberto Moreno.
