Tuesday, November 21st, 2023.- The milestones of Elizabeth Rodrigues speak for themselves and justify her poster of one of the top figures of Para athletics present in Santiago 2023.

Namely, the Brazilian won in shot put and discus at the Paris 2023 World Championships; she was gold in the discus at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics; the same result she achieved at the Dubai 2019 World Championships and the Toronto 2015 and Lima 2019 Parapan American Games.

In addition, he was bronze in the shot put at the Doha 2015 World Championships and silver in the same discipline at Toronto 2015.

In the Mario Recordón Athletic Center of the National Stadium she showed that and much more, because her 17.80 meters delivery became a new world record for the F53 class (they compete seated).

Her only rival, Mexico's Leticia Ochoa, was unable to cope with her 11.30 meter throw, but she consoled herself with the silver medal.

"I am very happy with this world record. The work is taking effect. I am preparing for Paris 2024 and this excellent result in Chile is a good feeling," said Rodrigues.

Ochoa, for his part, said that in his fifth participation in the Parapan American Games he is left with "a wonderful taste in his mouth, having been able to share with the best in the continents. I'm going home happy.''
