Shooting Para Sport: Brazil Adds Gold Medal with Pan American Record

Alexandre Galgani won the gold medal in Mixed R4-10m Air Rifle Standing SH2. The silver medal went to the Uruguayan Carmelo Milán, and the bronze medal to the Argentinian María Rodríguez.

Tuesday, November 21st, 2023.- At the Polígono de Tiro de Pudahuel, Brazilian Alexandre Galgani had a double satisfaction this Tuesday. He was the best in the R4-10m Air Rifle Standing SH2 Mixed event in Shooting Para Sport at Santiago 2023, with a score of 252.3 after nine rounds. 

Additionally, he set a new Parapan American record, surpassing the 251.2 set by the American Mckenna Geer at the Lima Games on August 24, 2019. 

The silver medal went to the Uruguayan Carmelo Milán, with a score of 248.0. The bronze medal was awarded to the Argentinian María Rodríguez, who scored 226.6. 

This gold medal marked Brazil's second in Shooting Para Sport, following Marcelo Marton's win on Monday in the R1/R2 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 Mixed event. 

Earlier in the day, Colombian María Restrepo won her second gold medal at Santiago 2023, this time in the R6-50m Air Rifle Prone SH1 Mixed event. This adds to the gold she earned on Saturday in the R3-10 meters Air Rifle Prone SH1 Mixed category, where she also set a new Parapan American record and qualified for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
