Brazil and Argentina Anticipate the Classic Showdown in Blind Football

The powerful South American teams will face each other this Wednesday at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games.

Tuesday, November 21st, 2023.- Brazil and Argentina have the football world at a standstill because this Tuesday they will face each other for the sixth round of the South American Qualifiers. However, it's not the only discipline where these South American giants will play a high-level match.

The Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games are the perfect stage for Brazilians and Argentinians to face off again, this time in blind football, taking place at the Centro de Deportes Paralímpicos at the Estadio Nacional.

It will be a sort of rematch because the Brazilian team and the Argentinian team faced each other in the final of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, where the Brazilians won 1-0 with the solitary goal from Tiago da Silva. Da Silva, who remembered this historic goal yesterday, previewed Wednesday's duel.

"I was thrilled; I passed through the entire Argentine defense and then kicked with everything to the goal; I felt a lot of happiness in that moment," said Da Silva during a press conference held at the Press Center of the Estadio Nacional.

"Brazil-Argentina has a different flavor; it's a very tight game. It's a classic, a tough challenge, in any sport, but in football, it's special and it demands a lot of concentration. It's a very powerful match to face," he added.

On the Argentinian side, Ángel Delbo analyzed the preliminary phase match as a "final."

"Argentina and Brazil is always a final every time it's played. We study each other a lot, but beating Brazil in the final of the last Copa America was very nice. I think the results were decided by minimal details, but since 2017, we haven't beaten them, and we knew that at some point, it would happen. We know that Argentina and Brazil are the powers of blind football worldwide," said the Argentinian.

Later, Delbo talked about Argentina's title at Qatar 2022: "The conventional football World Cup is something that Argentina hadn't achieved in a long time, and I think it always inspires. One tries to set an example, and motivate other sports; as a fan, it was an enormous joy, and it was enjoyed to the fullest."

Brazil and Argentina will play this Wednesday starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Estadio Nacional.
