Tuesday, November 21st, 2023.- With a solid 5-0 victory, the Brazilian Andreza de Oliveira confirmed her favoritism in boccia at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games, defeating the Argentinian Ailén Flores in the second match of Group A in the BC1 category.
The champion of the discipline's last world championship at Rio de Janeiro (2022) reaffirmed her victory over the Argentinian, who she previously defeated at the 2021 Copa America, and paved her way to the final stage of the competition taking place at the Centro Deportivo Comunitario Lo Espejo, located in the southern zone of the Chilean capital.
The outcome was positive for the Brazilian and her coach, Poliana Cruz. "Whenever you face Argentina, you know the match will be more contested. We devised a strategy that worked, but the matches against them are always exciting," she explained.
Looking ahead to the conclusion of the preliminary phase, she will face Bermuda's representative, Yushae Desilva-Andrade, on Wednesday. The coach hopes that Andreza de Oliveira will elevate her performance. "She feels happy and confident, but the job is not done. She needs to work more so that tomorrow we reach our maximum. We will focus, discuss the match, and devise strategies," she anticipated.
In other results from the morning session in the BC1 category, Desilva-Andrade defeated Dayana Quiroz from Ecuador, while Rebeca Duarte (El Salvador) overcame Joselyn León (Ecuador), and Karina Martínez (Mexico) defeated Kristyn Collins (Canada) in the BC2 category.
