Monday, November 20th, 2023.- Brazil is one of the top contenders for the gold medal in Para Football at Santiago 2023, and they confirmed this by defeating the United States 2-0 on Monday at the Bicentenario Stadium in La Florida.
The South American team didn't have an easy time against the organized U.S. team, and it wasn't until three minutes into added time before the end of the first half that they managed to take the lead with a goal from César Batista.
In the second half, things quickly became more straightforward for the Brazilians, as Matheus Cardoso scored the definitive 2-0 at the 33rd minute.
"It was a complicated match, but thank God, we got the result we wanted. We don't feel like favorites; we take it one game at a time, and this one was quite challenging," commented César Batista.
Batista, who opened the scoring for Brazil against the United States, talked about the upcoming match against Chile: "It's a surprise for us, this match against the local team. We will analyze it with our coach and hope things work out for us."
The Para Football match between Chile and Brazil will be played on Wednesday, the 22nd, at 5:00 PM local time at the Estadio Bicentenario in La Florida.
