Camila Campos Secures Gold Medal for Chile in Para Powerlifting

In the -50kg, -55kg category, the weightlifter from Team Para Chile clinched the first place with a lift of 121 kilograms, setting a new Parapan American record in both categories.

Monday, November 20th, 2023.- Chilean athlete Camila Campos secured the sixth gold medal for Team Para Chile by winning in the -50kg, -55kg category of Para powerlifting with a lift of 121 kilograms, setting a new Parapan American record in both categories.

Campos lifted 121 kilograms on her fourth attempt (null, 110, 117, and 121) to claim the top spot. In doing so, she broke the records held by María Luzineidi Santos (88 kg) in the -50 kg category and Mexican Amalia Pérez (120 kg) in the -55 kg category. Both records were set on August 29, 2019, at the Parapan American Games in Lima.

Camila Campos has had a steadily rising career, as this gold in Santiago 2023 adds to the silver medals she earned in Lima 2019 and the bronze in Toronto 2015.
