Shooting Para Sport: USA Takes Gold Thanks to Stetson Bardfield

He surpassed his own Parapan American record by once again being the best in the R5-10m Prone Air Rifle SH2 Mixed category, just like at Lima 2019.

Monday, November 20th, 2023.- The Shooting Para Sport session of the Parapan American Games concluded on Monday with the competition for medals in the R5-10m Prone Air Rifle SH2 Mixed category.

The gold medal in this event went to the American athlete Stetson Bardfield, who achieved a score of 253.4 after nine rounds.

Furthermore, the North American athlete set a new Parapan American record, surpassing his previous best mark from four years ago at the Lima 2019 Games when he scored 252.1.

The silver medal went to Brazilian Alexandre Galgani, with a score of 253.2, while the bronze medal was awarded to the Argentinian María Rodríguez, with a score of 230.2.

It's important to note that in Shooting Para Sport, athletes use a firearm or compressed air gun, either a rifle or a pistol, to hit a target divided into 10 concentric rings.

Shooters fire from different positions (standing, sitting, and prone) and at different distances, which can vary between 10, 25, and 50 meters.
