Wheelchair Basketball: Canada's Females also Remain Undefeated

Similar to the male team, the North American females secured their second consecutive victory by defeating El Salvador 69-17, consequently advancing to the semifinals.

Sunday, November 19th, 2023.- On Saturday, in the Group A debut of female's wheelchair basketball at Santiago 2023, Canada showcased their skill with a well-earned victory over Brazil, winning 61-44.

This Sunday, El Salvador posed no major challenges to the North American females, who clinched their second consecutive win with a convincing 69-17 scoreline.

Earlier, the male's team from the northern continent triumphed 82-42 against Venezuela, maintaining their perfect streak.

Right from the start, the audience at the Polideportivo 1 at the Estadio Nacional witnessed the Canadian team's superiority, finishing the first quarter with a 24-2 lead.

Afterward, the Central American team attempted to put up a stronger fight but couldn't match their opponent's game, ultimately conceding a 13-0 run in the final quarter.

Arinn Young, with 28 points, stood out as the main figure for the winning team, followed by Kathleen Dandeneau with eight points. The top scorer from the Brazil match had more rest this time and only played for 12 minutes.

The victory places Canada at the top of the group with four points, two ahead of Brazil and Colombia, who faced off earlier with Brazil securing a 72-20 win.

This way, the current Parapan American champions have virtually secured their place in the semifinals. On Tuesday, at 8:00 a.m. local time, they conclude the group stage against Colombia. On the same day, Brazil faces El Salvador right after.
