Argentina Secured a Resounding Victory Against Chile in Wheelchair Basketball

The Argentinian team triumphed with a score of 84-30 against the hosts, claiming their second win at Santiago 2023.

Sunday, November 19th, 2023.- The Argentinian team dominated the second round of the male's wheelchair basketball, defeating Chile 84-30 and setting the stage for a showdown against Canada to determine the top spot in Group A at the 2023 Santiago Parapan American Games.

On the court at Polideportivo 1 at the Estadio Nacional, the Argentinians achieved an even greater difference against the locals than they had on Saturday in their debut when they won 72-44 against Venezuela.

Facing the Chilean squad, the Argentinians faced little resistance and, notably in the second and third quarters, established a solid victory. During these periods, they conceded a mere 10 points to Chile while scoring 50 themselves.

Maximiliano Ruggeri led the winning team with 16 points, closely followed by Brian Bordón contributing 15 points. None of the Chilean players crossed the 10-point mark; Ángel Hernández recorded nine points as the top scorer for his team.

Consequently, Argentina and Canada, the latter also securing their second win earlier by beating Venezuela 82-42, will clash on Monday at 8:30 p.m. local time to determine the group's leader.

Chile and Venezuela will battle for the third spot in the group at 12:30 p.m. on the same day.

The top eight teams from Santiago 2023 progress to the wheelchair basketball finals. In the quarterfinals taking place on Wednesday, their placement will be determined based on the results from this initial phase.
