Sunday, November 19th, 2023.- One of the sports that garnered significant attention in the early days of the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games is goalball, a discipline in which Chile continues to surprise.
The host team astonished on Saturday with a victory against Mexico in Group A, and in the second match of the zone, they prevailed over their counterparts from Colombia.
In a closely contested match held at the Centro de Deportes Paralímpicos at the Estadio Nacional, the Chileans defeated Colombia 4-1 in a game that was decided in the second half, where the hosts scored three times.
The standout player of the match was the Chilean Fabián Villanueva, who sealed the match with goals in the latter part of the game.
Thanks to their victory, Chile leveled with Brazil in the standings, as both teams have six points, with the Brazilians having a better goal difference. Mexico and Colombia, meanwhile, have yet to earn points.
Chile and Brazil will determine the group winner this Tuesday when they face off starting at 5:45 p.m.
