Sunday, November 19th, 2023.- The Brazilian Blind Football team took a significant step toward defending the gold medal achieved at Lima 2019 by defeating Chile 2-0 in the preliminary round of Group A, in a match held at the Centro de Deportes Paralímpicos.
The “Scratch” (Brazil) displayed their attacking power, securing victory through goals from Ricardo Alves and Raimundo Nonato, against a representative Chilean team that, despite their desire and effort on the field, couldn't match their opponent's performance.
The Brazilian team will face Colombia this Monday at 4:00 p.m. local time, while Chile will play against Peru starting at 6:00 p.m.
Blind football is a dynamic discipline for athletes with visual impairments. It is played with a sound-emitting ball and involves two teams composed of five players each. Players, using patches and goggles, receive verbal guidance and instructions from the goalkeeper, coach, and guide with the aim of scoring goals against the opposing team. This sport is an adapted version of conventional indoor soccer.
