Judo: Brazil Shines on the First Day of the Parapan American Games

This afternoon, several categories will be decided, where the Brazilians, just like in the Pan American Games, dominated without opposition. Chile, on the other hand, did not manage to qualify for any medal bouts.

Sunday, November 19th, 2023.- In both female's and male's judo at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games, Brazilian dominance is absolute, and this afternoon, this hegemony could translate into medals at the Centro de Deportes de Contacto.

In the three finals scheduled for this afternoon, there will be a Brazilian competitor in each one. In the male's -73-kilogram category, Harley Pereira will go for gold against the Argentine Eduardo Gauto.

In the female's -57-kilogram category, Lucía Da Silva will face the North American Maria Mutia. Meanwhile, in the male's -60-kilogram category, there will definitely be a fighter from the South American giant at the top of the podium, as compatriots Thiago Marques and Elielton Lira face each other.

The host country, Chile, did not reach decisive stages. All five representatives of the local team fell in their first match and then lost again in the repechage. In total, there were 10 matches and no victories for Team ParaChile.
