Wheelchair Basketball: The United States Displays Its Dominance in Debut

The current Parapan American champions in the male's category began their participation at Santiago 2023 by defeating Brazil 82-42. With this result, they are leading Group B along with Colombia.

The United States began the defense of their Parapan American title in male's wheelchair basketball in the best way, defeating Brazil 82-42 at the Estadio Nacional’s Polideportivo 1. 


With this result, the Americans took the lead in Group A alongside Colombia, which earlier had surpassed Puerto Rico 69-53. 

In their debut, the United States never saw their victory in jeopardy. They prevailed in the first quarter 24-11, and although Brazil managed to level the score in the second, losing by just one point (16-15), in the second half, the North Americans regained their dominance: they won the third quarter 22-10 and the last 20-6, structuring the definitive 82-42. 

The top scorer of the game was Jacob Williams of the United States, while Cristiano Clemente stood out for Brazil with 17 points. 

The male's wheelchair basketball competition will continue this afternoon with two matches in Group A: Canada against Venezuela and Argentina against Chile.
