Para Powerlifting: Colombian Bertha Fernández Secures Gold in -67kg

The para-athlete recorded 130 and was accompanied by the Mexican Amalia Pérez (127) and the Brazilian María Costa de Castro (110) at the Parapan American Games.

Sunday, November 19th, 2023.- Para-athlete Bertha Fernández claimed the gold medal in the -64kg category of Para Powerlifting at Santiago 2023, adding another medal to her delegation's tally on a new day of competition.

The athlete from Antioquia earned the gold medal by registering results of 130 (127, 130, and null), securing the first place in the competition held at the Gimnasio Chimkowe in Peñalolén.

The silver medal went to Mexican Amalia Pérez with a lift of 127 (127, null, and null), while the bronze medal was awarded to Brazilian Maria Costa de Castro with a lift of 110 (null, 110, and null).

It's worth noting that earlier in the day, Brazilian Bruno Carra retained the gold in the -54kg category with a lift of 161 (160, 161, and null), maintaining his record from four years ago when he set a competition record with 165.

Para Powerlifting continues later in the day with competitions in Male's -97kg, Female's -45kg, and Male's -107kg, +107kg.
