Para Powerlifting: Brazilian Bruno Carra Retained Gold in-54-kg Category

The representative from Team Brazil won his category just as he did four years ago in Lima, where he set the Parapan American record.

Sunday, November 19th, 2023.- This Sunday morning, Brazilian Bruno Carra reaffirmed his favorite status in the final of the -54-kilogram Para Powerlifting event at Santiago 2023, securing the first-place position once again, just as he did four years ago at the Lima Games.

The series winner achieved a result of 161 (160, 161, and a no-lift) to claim the gold medal at the Gimnasio Chimkowe in Peñalolén, confirming his dominance in the discipline.

The silver medal went to Cuban Pablo Barrientos with 161 (155, 159, and 161), and the bronze medal was secured by Brazilian Joao Franca with 160 (157, 160, and 162).

Four years ago, at the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games, Bruno Carra set the competition record with 163. Moreover, he also holds the American record with 165.

Para Powerlifting continues later today with competitions in the Female -67kg, Male -97kg, Female -45kg, and Male -107kg and +107kg categories.
