Para Swimmming:Argentinian Basiloff Wins Gold, Breaks his record

In the male's S7 400m freestyle, Iñaki Basiloff claimed victory with a time of 4:40.89, surpassing his own record set in Lima 2019 by almost five seconds. The silver medal went to the American Adin Williams, and the bronze to the Argentine Facundo Arregui.

Sunday, November 19th, 2023.- Delivering an extraordinary performance and significantly outperforming his competitors, Argentine swimmer Iñaki Basiloff won the gold medal in the men's S7 400m freestyle, breaking his own Parapan American record.

Basiloff, who had secured a silver medal in the SM7 200m individual medley on the opening day of swimming events, dominated the 400m freestyle this morning with a time of 4:40.89. This achievement marked an improvement of almost five seconds over his previous continental record set in Lima 2019, at 4:45.54.

Four athletes competed in the final of this event, and the Argentine swimmer was immensely superior from start to finish, finishing with a lead of almost 50 meters (the length of the pool) and 25 seconds ahead of all his rivals.

The silver medal went to the American Adin Williams, with a time of 5:03.48, and the bronze to another Argentine, Facundo Arregui, with 5:04.41. Carlos Serrano from Colombia finished fourth, with a time of 5:05.53.

It's worth noting that the S7 category includes swimmers with limited movement in their arms, torso, and legs, ranging from low to moderate levels.
