Blind Football: Brazil Defeats Mexico 1-0

The "Scratch", Chile's upcoming opponent, appears to be the favorite to secure the Parapan American gold.

Saturday, November 18th, 2023.- Brazil's blind football team, one of the regional powerhouses in this discipline, started their participation at the 2023 Santiago Parapan American Games with a tight victory against Mexico in a match held at the Centro de Deportes Paralímpicos.

The only goal of the match was scored by Raimundo Alves, six minutes into the game, as Mexico pressed to break through Brazil's defense.

Brazil thus begins its journey toward achieving the Parapan American gold, being the favorite at the start of the competition.

In the last match of the Saturday session, Colombia defeated Peru 2-0 with goals from Juan Pérez, and they will now face Mexico at 6:00 p.m. local time on Sunday. Brazil, the reigning Paralympic champion, will take on Team ParaChile at 4:00 p.m., concluding the day with the match between Argentina and Peru at 8:00 p.m.

It's important to note that the team winning the gold medal will secure a direct spot at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
