Ruby Stevens Shines with a Pan American Record in 100 meters Backstroke S6

The Canadian swimmer broke the record that had been standing since Lima 2019. In the male's category, the champion was Argentinian Matías de Andrade.

Saturday, November 18th, 2023.- A new Pan American record was shattered at the Centro de Deportes Acuáticos of the Estadio Nacional, thanks to the prowess of Canadian swimmer Ruby Stevens.

The North American swimmer secured the gold medal in the 100 meters backstroke S6 with a time of 1:30.41, surpassing the mark set by Sara Varga at Lima 2019, who clocked in at 1:33.03 in Peru.

Joining Stevens on the podium was Mexican Vianney Trejo, who claimed the silver medal with a time of 1:34.38, while Megan Gioffreda from the United States took the bronze with 1:34.42.

In the same category but for males, the champion was Argentinian Matías de Andrade, clocking in at 1:16.72.

The silver medal went to Colombian Nelson Crispin with 1:18.26, and the bronze was secured by Brazilian Talisson Glovk with 1:19.81.
