Saturday, November 18th, 2023.- Goalball is one of the star sports at the Parapan American Games, where Brazil has been historically dominant in the discipline and began strongly at Santiago 2023.
In the male's category, the South American giant had no trouble defeating Colombia in the Group A debut, securing a convincing 11-1 victory at the Centro de Deportes Paralímpicos in Estadio Nacional.
The standout players on the court were André Botelho, Paulo Ferreira, and Ernesto da Silva, each scoring three goals. Josemarcio Da Silva and Leomon Moreno contributed to the other goals.
Brazil leads Group A with three points and a significant 10-goal difference. The group also includes Mexico, Chile, and the defeated Colombian team.
In the second match of the group stage, Brazil will face the host nation Chile, while Colombia will compete against Mexico.
Brazil dominates goalball in the Pan American region, having won all three tournaments held in the event.
