Argentina Claims Victory in Women's Wheelchair Basketball Too

Similar to the males, the female team made their debut with a solid victory, defeating Peru 58-28 in a match corresponding to Group B at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games.

Saturday, November 18th, 2023.- Argentina had a great opening day in wheelchair basketball at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games. After the male's team debuted with a victory against Venezuela, the female’s team followed suit at the Polideportivo 1 at the Estadio Nacional, defeating Peru 58-28. 

In a match belonging to Group B, the “albiceleste” team virtually secured the victory in the first quarter, which they won 23-6, extending the lead to 41-14 by halftime. 

The second half was much more balanced, with Argentina maintaining the lead without the Peruvian team being able to narrow the gap on the scoreboard. 

The top scorer was Maria Pallares from the winning team, with 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. Lucy Herrera stood out for the defeated team with 10 goals. 

The first day of Group B will be completed by Chile and the United States, this Saturday at 6:15 p.m. In Group A, Canada will face Brazil, and Colombia will play against El Salvador.
