Parapan American Program: Eight Sports Debut on the Third Day of Competitions

The Parapan American Games begin today to award their first medals. In addition to Para table tennis, which already provided excitement in the first two days, Para swimming, Para powerlifting, and Para sport shooting are added to the lineup.

Saturday, November 18th, 2023.- Multiple activities are scheduled for this Saturday in the context of Santiago 2023, following the previous day highlighted by a spectacular opening ceremony at the Parapan American Games. 

In essence, this Saturday marks the third day of competitions, after Thursday and Friday saw preliminary and follow-up rounds in Para table tennis, which will award medals in some categories today. 

Alongside this sport, eight others are beginning their action today. One of them is wheelchair basketball, which will be played at the Polideportivo 1 del Estadio Nacional starting at 8:00 a.m. with the following group stage matches: Argentina vs. Venezuela and Chile vs. Canada in male's; Argentina vs. Peru, Canada vs. Brazil, El Salvador vs. Colombia, and Chile vs. the United States in female's. 

Blind football, on the other hand, features three matches at the Centro de Deportes Paralímpicos: Chile vs. Argentina (4:00 p.m.), Mexico vs. Brazil (6:00 p.m.), and Colombia vs. Peru (8:00 p.m.) 

There is also CP football, for people with cerebral palsy, at theEstadio Bicentenario in La Florida, with matches between Chile and the United States (2:30 p.m.), Brazil and Argentina (5:00 p.m.), and Venezuela and Canada (7:30 p.m.). 

Goalball will be played at the Centro de Deportes Paralímpicos starting at 9:30 a.m., featuring female's matches between Brazil and Argentina, Mexico and Guatemala, and Canada and the United States; and male's clashes between the United States and Canada, Brazil and Colombia, and Mexico and Chile. 

Para swimming starts at 5:00 p.m. at the Centro Acuático, with 24 events where gold medals will be awarded. 

Para powerlifting takes place at the Gimnasio Chimkowe in the Peñalolén commune, starting at 10:30 a.m., with medal presentations at the end of the competition. 

The start of wheelchair rugby is also enticing at the Centro de Deportes Colectivos, where four matches will be played: United States vs. Chile (11:00 a.m.), Argentina vs. Canada (1:00 p.m.), Brazil vs. Colombia (4:30 p.m.), and United States vs. Argentina (6:30 p.m.) 

There will also be action in Para sport shooting this Saturday at the Polígono de Tiro de Pudahuel, starting at 9:00 a.m. This sport will also award medals on this day.
