Sunday, November 5th, 2023.- Swimmer Jacob Foster was the American athlete who stood atop the podium the most at the 2023 Pan American Games, winning four gold medals in the 100 and 200 meters breaststroke, as well as in the 4x100 male's and 4x100 mixed medley relays.
At the National Stadium Aquatic Center, Foster won the 100 meters breaststroke with a time of 59.99", while in the 200 meters, he clocked 2:10.71. In the relays, he recorded 3:33.29 in the male's medley and 33:44.71 in the mixed medley.
This 23-year-old swimmer has already participated in two Olympic Games and will be part of the American team in Paris 2024. He made his debut in Rio de Janeiro at just 15 years old (finishing 42nd in the breaststroke), and in Tokyo, he finished fifth in the 400 meters individual medley, sixth in the 200 breaststroke, and tenth in the 200 individual medley.
Foster's sports career has an expiration date, as he has already announced that after the upcoming Olympic Games, he will retire from swimming and focus on his studies. He has been accepted into the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas.
