Alejandra Valencia Highlighted the Three medals Won by Mexico in Recurve Archery

The Mexican archer emerged as a triple champion at the Pan American Games, winning the gold medal in Santiago 2023, in addition to her bronze in the mixed category and Matías Grande's silver.

Sunday, November 5th, 2023.- Archery competitions concluded at Santiago 2023, and Mexico contributed three new medals in recurve archery, thanks to Alejandra Valencia's gold, who became a triple Pan American champion, Matías Grande's silver, and both their bronze in the mixed category.

The Mexican archer secured the gold medal by defeating the representative from Brazil, Ana Machado, with a total score of 7-1 in set points during the morning session held at the Centro de Tiro con Arco of Peñalolén.

Valencia commented on her performance but also acknowledged that she was unaware that her country had never before achieved three Pan American medals in the Recurve Archery discipline.

"Well, I did very well, I managed to stay focused on what I had to do, on maintaining my form, so yes, I did it very well. I also didn't know it was historic, that we had never won three Pan American Games in our sport, and I was like 'what.' So I didn't know either. It means a lot, and I'm very proud to have achieved it. No, I felt like I was shooting well yesterday. Right now, it was mainly about repeating the feeling, and I do feel better, but I tried, mainly, to maintain the sensation," Valencia concluded.
