Table Tennis: Brazil Secures a Gold Medal in the Male's Team Final

The South American team defeated Canada 3-1 in the series, clinching the gold medal on the final day of competitions.

Sunday, November 5th, 2023.- Table tennis crowned Brazil in the male's team competition with a victory over Canada during Sunday noon, in the series played at the Centro de Entrenamiento Olímpico in Ñuñoa.

The Brazilian team began the series with a 3-0 victory, courtesy of Víctor Ishiy and Eric Jouty, with scores of 11-9, 11-5, and 11-6. They then increased their advantage with a 3-1 win, thanks to Hugo Calderano, with partial scores of 10-12, 11-0, 11-5, and 11-4.

However, Canada reduced the series with a convincing 3-0 win, where Eugene Wang defeated Eric Youti with scores of 11-9, 11-8, and 12-10, leaving the total count at 2-1 in favor of Brazil.

The fourth and final match went to the South Americans. Hugo Calderano defeated Martín Siméon with scores of 11-6, 11-9, and 11-7, leaving the series at 3-0 and 3-1 in the overall matchups.

It is worth noting that the only category that qualifies for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games is mixed doubles, which offers two available slots, which will be awarded to the finalists of the event.
