Golf: Mexican Abraham Ancer Clinches the Gold in a Close Final

Only one stroke separated the winner (-21) from Colombian Sebastián Muñoz (-20), who claimed the silver. The bronze went to the American Dylan Menante (-17), while the best Chilean, Joaquín Niemann, finished in sixth place.

Sunday, November 5th, 2023.- In a tight finish, Mexican Abraham Ancer secured the gold medal in the golf competition held at the Prince of Wales Country Club, edging out Colombian Sebastián Muñoz by a one-stroke difference. The bronze medal went to American Dylan Menante, and the best Chilean, Joaquín Niemann, ended up in sixth place.

A close finish was expected as Ancer and Muñoz entered the decisive round tied, and the margin Ancer managed to gain in the end was minimal: -21 to Muñoz's -20. Muñoz was seeking a birdie on the final hole to at least force a playoff.

Dylan Menante finished in third place with a score of -17, and fourth place was shared by Colombian Ricardo Celia and Canadian Etienne Papineau, both with a score of -16.

The best Chilean, Joaquín Niemann, only made his appearance in the sixth position with a score of -15. Although he had the best round of the day with a -7 (just like Celia), he had fallen behind after the first three days, and his comeback was not enough to secure a medal.

The other Chilean, Guillermo Pereira, was unable to make a comeback and finished in the tenth position with a score of -9.
