Speed Skating: United States Takes Gold in Female's 500 Meters

Erin Jackson claimed the top spot at the Patinódromo at Estadio Nacional. Venezuelan Wilmary Toro was disqualified.

Sunday, November 5th, 2023.- The female's 500 meters final in speed skating at the Patinódromo at Estadio Nacional was a chaotic affair this Sunday. 

In the third attempt on the final day of the Pan American Games, Venezuelan Wilmary Toro was disqualified for pushing Colombian Geiny Pájaro Guzmán. 

Subsequently, a new start was initiated with only three participants. In this race, American Erin Jackson emerged victorious with a time of 0:45.518, earning the gold medal. 

The second place at Santiago 2023, along with the silver medal, went to Ecuador's María Arias, who clocked in at 0:45.632. 

The bronze medal was awarded to Colombia's Geiny Pájaro Guzmán, who finished with a time of 0:45.723.
