Archery: United States Secures Individual Gold in Recurve Bow

The American archer Jackson Mirich defeated Mexico's Matías Grande. Both earned spots for Paris 2024.

Sunday, November 5th, 2023.- The United States added more gold to their Pan American record by winning the top prize in archery, in the individual recurve bow category. 

The competition took place at the Centro de Tiro con Arco in Peñalolén, where Jackson Mirich from the United States faced Matías Grande from Mexico. 

Similar to the bronze medal match, the challenge between the United States and Mexico went the distance in a tight five-set contest. Mirich's scores for the sets were 29, 28, 29, 28, and 30, totaling 144 arrows. Grande from Mexico had scores of 29, 28, 28, 29, and 27, totaling 141 arrows. 

The final score favored Jackson Mirich with 6 set points (1-1-2-0-2), while Matías Grande earned 4 set points (1-1-0-2-0). 

Both archers, thanks to their scores and reaching the final stage in the individual recurve bow category, secured spots for Paris 2024.
