Archery: Chile Secured Bronze in Individual Recurve Archery

Ricardo Soto defeated American archer Brady Ellison and, in the process, secured a spot for Paris 2024.

Team Chile added another bronze medal to its total production at Santiago 2023. This achievement came in archery, in the individual recurve archery category, where Ricardo Soto triumphed over Brady Ellison of the United States with a score of 6-4. 

The joy erupted at the Centro de Tiro con Arco in Peñalolén in the southeast of the capital, where the audience who had come to watch the event enthusiastically celebrated the medal won by Ricardo Soto. Moreover, Soto's victory also ensured a qualifying spot for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games. 

In this regard, the athlete explained that the qualification spot belongs to the Archery Federation, which will determine which athlete to send. Based on sporting merits, it is highly likely that this spot will go to Ricardo Soto. 

The duel between the Chilean and Brady Ellison extended to five tightly contested sets. Soto achieved partial scores of 28, 25, 25, 30, and 29, totaling 137 arrows, while his opponent scored 27, 27, 25, 28, and 29, for a total of 136 arrows. 

As a result, Ricardo Soto secured the win with 6 set points (2-0-1-2-1), while Brady Ellison accumulated only 4 set points (0-2-1-0-1).
