Speed Skating: Colombia Takes the Top Two Spots in Male's 10,000-Meter Race

Andrés Gómez and Juan Mantilla secured gold and silver, respectively, in the 10,000-meter elimination race. Chile's Hugo Ramírez finished in third place.

Sunday, November 5th, 2023.- The second final of the speed skating event at Santiago 2023, the male’s 10,000-meter elimination race, showcased Colombian dominance.

Just as in the female's event a few minutes earlier (with Colombian athletes Fabiana Arias and Gabriela Rueda winning gold and silver, respectively), Colombian skaters Andrés Gómez (gold with a time of 15:14.489) and Juan Mantilla (silver with 15:14.515) claimed the top two spots in the Pan American final at the brand-new Patinódromo at the Estadio Nacional.

The sole Chilean in the final, Hugo Ramírez, finished in third place, securing the bronze medal with a time of 15:22.287.
