Archery: United States Secures Gold in Mixed Recurve Final

The American duo defeated Brazil with a final score of 6-2.

Sunday, November 5th, 2023.- In the discipline of archery, specifically in the recurve bow category, the United States was crowned with the gold medal in the mixed final, held at the Centro de Tiro con Arco in Peñalolén.

Kasey Kaufhold and Brady Ellison established their lead against Brazil with partial scores of 40, 38, 35, and 39 in the four rounds, totaling 152 arrows. The Brazilian duo composed of Ana Machado and Marcus D’Almedia only managed to score 144 in their total.

Thus, the American mixed team accumulated 6 set points (2-2-0-2), while Brazil only earned 2 points (0-0-2-0).

It's important to note that a recurve bow allows for a shorter implement than a single straight-limb bow for a given arrow energy. The curved limbs also exert more pressure on the materials used to make the bow and can produce more noise when shot.
