Saturday 4th November 2023.- Brazil managed to bounce back in male's basketball after their defeat to Venezuela in the semifinals, turning the page to claim the bronze medal by dominating Mexico in the game.
The South American team secured their place on the podium at Santiago 2023 by convincingly beating the Mexican team 73-61, which showed little resistance against one of the regional powerhouses.
Brazil's offensive firepower shone through with Reynan Camilo, Gabriel Crepaldi, and Lucas Días scoring 18, 15, and 13 points, respectively. Additionally, Crepaldi also stood out in defensive duties with ten rebounds.
Guilherme Pereira, a player for the Brazilian team, expressed the impact of the game. "This is wonderful. I'm very happy. It's the result of a lot of hard work. We wanted the gold, but I'm happy with this bronze and this achievement. Now comes the preparation for Paris, which is the next goal for this team."
With this bronze medal in basketball, Brazil solidifies its second-place position in the Santiago 2023 medal standings, with a total of 130 medals, including 59 gold, 65 silver, and 61 bronze. The South Americans are only surpassed by the United States.
The last match in this discipline will be played this evening starting at 8:00 p.m. at the Polideportivo 1 of the Estadio Nacional, with Argentina and Venezuela competing for the gold medal at these Pan American Games.
