Saturday, November 4th, 2023.- Chilean sailor Clemente Seguel won a silver medal in the ILCA7 category and secured a spot in the Olympic Games in Paris, just like the Lightning crew did with Felipe Robles, Carmina Malsh, and Paula Herman.
Today marked the conclusion of the Pan American sailing event after eight intense races at the Cofradía Náutica del Pacífico in Algarrobo and El Batro Beach in El Quisco.
Chileans María José Poncells and Diego González also earned bronze medals in the female's and male's Sunfish categories, respectively.
The final day awarded a total of 21 medals in the ILCA7, ILCA6, Nacra 17 mixed, and regional classes of Sunfish male, Sunfish female, Snipe, and Lightning.
In ILCA 7, the gold went to the Peruvian Stefano Pescheira, silver to the Chilean Seguel, and bronze to Juan Ignacio Maegli from the Independent Athletes' Team.
Argentinian sailor Francisco Guaragna, who finished fourth, secured the second Olympic spot for South America.
In ILCA 6, the top three finishers were Erika Reineke from the United States, followed by Sarah Douglas from Canada and Luciana Cardozo from Argentina.
In Nacra 17, gold went to Argentina (the duo of Mateo Majdalani and Eugenia Bosco). Silver was claimed by the United States, with Sarah Newberry and David Liebenberg, and bronze went to Brazil, with Samuel Reis and Gabrila Nicolino.
In the non-Olympic regional categories, in male Sunfish, gold went to Lee Parkhill from Canada, silver was awarded to Jean Paul Trazegnies from Peru, and bronze to the Chilean González.
In female Sunfish, gold was secured by Caterina Romero from Peru, silver by Philipine Van Aanholt from Aruba, and bronze by the Chilean Poncell.
In the Snipe class, gold went to Argentina, with Julio Alsogaray and Malena Sciarra; silver to Brazil, with Juliana Martins and Rafael Brito; and bronze to the United States, with Ernesto Rodríguez and Kathleen Tocke.
Finally, in the Lightning class, gold was claimed by the United States, with Allen Terhune Jr., Madeline Baldrige, and Sarah Chin; silver went to Chile, and bronze to Argentina with Javier Conte, Martina Silva, and Trinidad Silva.
