Saturday, November 4th, 2023.- The expertise of the Pumas played a crucial role in their 21-7 victory over Canada in rugby 7, earning the defending champions a place in the final of the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. This sets up a unique final match against Chile at the Estadio Municipal in La Pintana.
Argentina left little room for the maple leaf team, thanks to the outstanding mobility of Marcos Moneta, who set up the first try by Alejo Lavayén and scored the decisive try to secure the victory in the final moments of the game, witnessed by over four thousand spectators in the southern part of the Chilean capital.
The Pumas maintained control throughout the match against the runners-up from the last Pan American Games and took advantage of Robert Berna's expulsion in the final two minutes to seal a well-deserved and solid result, particularly in their defensive performance.
With this outcome, Argentina and Chile will compete for the gold at 6:10 p.m., with the Pumas being the favorites, having reached the last three finals and aiming to confirm their regional leadership in rugby sevens, following their fourth-place finish in the recent Rugby XV World Cup.
It's worth noting that the Argentines previously defeated the Cóndores in the preliminary phase with a score of 28-12 in the second match of Group A.
