North American Pairing: The United States and Canada Compete in Rugby 7 Finals

The North American teams defeated Brazil and Colombia in the semi-finals to secure their spots in the decisive round. Meanwhile, the South American teams will face each other in their quest for the bronze medal.

Saturday, November 4th, 2023.- The United States and Canada have advanced to the female's Rugby 7 final after defeating the teams from Brazil and Colombia in the semifinals. This sets up a 100% North American final, with the Canadian team being the favorite, having won gold medals in the last two Pan American Games.

At 11:40 a.m. on Saturday, Canada faced Colombia. The North Americans started with a clear advantage, scoring tries through Carissa Norsten and Alysha Corrigan, with conversions by Asia Hogan-Rochester (14-0).

Although the South Americans reduced the deficit with tries from Nikol Durango and María Camila Lopera, bringing the score to 7-14, their opponents extended their lead to 26 points with tries from Piper Logan and Hogan-Rochester, along with two conversions by the latter.

In the second half, Canadian dominance was evident, and despite Colombia narrowing the gap to 14-40, they ultimately conceded the match with a final score of 14-45.

Immediately after, the match between the United States and Brazil took place, with the athletes from the Northern Hemisphere demonstrating unwavering control. The first half ended with a resounding 19-0 lead, thanks to tries by Alexandria Sedrick, Kristi Kirshe, and Delsing Maher, as well as conversions by Alena Olsen.

In the second half, the American team continued to apply pressure on the Brazilian side, scoring an additional 17 points and securing a place in the final, which will be held at 5:40 p.m. at the Estadio Municipal de La Cisterna. The bronze medal match between Brazil and Colombia will take place at 4:40 p.m. at the same venue.
