Wrestling: Chilean Néstor Almanza aims for bronze in the 67-kilogram category

The athlete from the host country, born in Cuba, lost in the semi-finals to the Cuban wrestler Luis Orta by a score of 8-0.

Saturday, November 4th, 2023.- The Pan American Games' Greco-Roman wrestling event is taking place this Saturday at the Centro de Entrenamiento Olímpico. Local representative Néstor Almanza, originally from Cuba but now Chilean, was defeated in the semi-finals by the Cuban wrestler Luis Orta with a score of 8-0.

As a result, the runner-up is preparing to compete for the bronze medal later in the day after winning two previous matches (5-3 against Brazilian Calebe Correa and 8-0 against Paraguayan Lisandro Cabrera).

"Luis Orta is a highly experienced opponent, well-known worldwide, which makes it uncomfortable to wrestle against him... But I feel like I gave it my all, and now I have to mentally and physically prepare for the bronze medal match in the afternoon," said Néstor Almanza, who became a naturalized Chilean a year ago.
