Saturday, November 4th, 2023.- Despite the support from the home crowd and the athletes' efforts, Chile has struggled to achieve a stronger performance in female's rugby 7 at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. Las Cóndores suffered their fourth consecutive defeat this morning, losing 14-10 to Paraguay. In the afternoon of this Saturday, they will face Jamaica for the penultimate place in the regional tournament.
The standout player of the match was Lucero Viveros, who scored the opening try and made two conversions that made the difference for the Paraguayan team. Meanwhile, the Chilean team managed only unconverted tries, and despite a comeback in the second half, they couldn't prevent the defeat.
As a result, the Chilean team has now accumulated four losses at the Pan American Games, having been defeated by Canada (36-0), Brazil (41-0), and Mexico (27-5) in previous matches. Their last game is against the Jamaican team, which has a similar record, scheduled for 3:00 p.m. local time on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Mexico and Paraguay will compete for the fifth and sixth place at 3:25 p.m. The bronze medal match is set for 4:40 p.m., and the gold medal match will take place at 5:40 p.m.
