Mixed Relay Race Walking: gold goes to Ecuador

Glenda Morejón and Bryan Pintado clocked 2 hours, 56 minutes, and 49 seconds for the 42.195 kilometers.

Saturday, November 4th, 2023.- At the Explanada Campo de Marte in Parque O’Higgins, the grueling mixed relay race walking of the Pan American Games took place early this Saturday.

In this competition, one man and one woman alternate in four shifts to cover the 42.195-kilometer course.

The winning team at Santiago 2023, which claimed the gold medal, was Ecuador, represented by Glenda Morejón and Bryan Pintado, with a time of 2 hours, 56 minutes, and 49 seconds (2:56:49).

The second place and the silver medal went to Peru, represented by Kimberly García (the individual female's winner last weekend) and César Rodríguez, with a time of 3:01:14.

The third place and the bronze medal were secured by the Brazilian duo of Viviane Santane and Caio Bonfim, who finished in 3:02:14.

It's worth noting that this new form of race walking will make its debut at the Paris Olympics next year.
