Colombia and Brazil Take the Lead in Artistic Skating

In the female's freestyle, Colombian skater Sandra Díaz led with a score of 54.06. In the male's event, Brazilian Erik Medziukevicius closed as the leader with a score of 73.61.

Friday, November 3rd, 2023.- Colombia and Brazil had a successful day in artistic skating, dominating the freestyle skate events in the female's and male's categories, respectively.

For the Colombian team, skater Sandra Díaz García took the lead, achieving the highest score with 54.06 and no penalties. She was followed by Martina Della from Argentina with 51.88 and Paulina Ruiz from Colombia with 51.17.

Díaz, who recently won gold at the Bolivarian Games Valledupar 2022, expressed her satisfaction with her performance this afternoon.

"I am very happy with my presentation because every day we overcome something. I came from a not-so-good competition, so I am enjoying every jump and spin. I want to maintain my position, and to do that, I need to do the same as I did today – stay very focused and concentrated," she said.

In the male's category, the best performer was the Brazilian Erik Medziukevicius, with a score of 73.61, surpassing Franco Mastroianni from Argentina (66.31) and Víctor López from Paraguay (65.33).

"This is a very challenging championship, where the best skaters in Latin America compete. We came well-prepared. I am very happy to close the day as the leader because I executed well, and I believe I gave my best. My goal is the gold, especially after today's result and my choreography," stated Medziukevicius.

On Saturday, the female's long program will start at 6:00 p.m, followed by the male's long program at 7:30 p.m, featuring more jumps and spins, with the average score combined with what was achieved during Friday's session.
