The albiceleste team overcame Chile, one of the South American classics, with a clear 33-26 victory, keeping their hopes alive of reaching the top of the podium.
The top scorer of the match in the Valparaíso region was the Argentine Federico Pizarro, who scored eight goals.
After the game, the Chilean team's coach, Aitor Etxaburu, stated, "It was a fair victory for Argentina, which I believe was superior in the defensive and offensive phases. We couldn't stop them."
"The bronze medal is very important for Chile. We took that match very seriously, and we had the hope of playing in the final at home, with our fans. It didn't happen, but we will face the fight for the bronze in the best way possible," the coach added.
The handball medal matches will take place on Saturday. The bronze medal match will be played at 5:00 p.m. between Chile and the United States, while the final will start at 7:30 p.m. with the classic encounter between Brazil and Argentina.
