Argentina reaffirmed its gold medal in male's field hockey by defeating Chile

The "Leones" defeated the "Diablos" 3-1 and retained the gold medal in the discipline.

Friday, November 3rd, 2023.- Argentina reaffirmed its gold medal in the field hockey competition at the Pan American Games by defeating Chile 3-1 in the final.

Lucas Martínez gave the "Leones" the lead against the "Diablos," silencing the Centro de Hockey Césped at Estadio Nacional, which was at full capacity this afternoon.

The match was tightly contested. Both teams didn't give each other many advantages, and after a short corner, Axel Richter equalized the game, sparking jubilation in the sports venue.

However, in the final 15 minutes, Argentina showcased its expertise, and Martínez tilted the score in favor of the Argentinians. And when the "Diablos" were focused on finding an equalizer, Agustín Bugallo scored the final 3-1 goal with the unguarded net.

With this victory, Argentina retained the gold medal it had won in Lima 2019 and secured its fourth consecutive gold since Guadalajara 2011. Meanwhile, for Chile, this defeat represents a historic silver medal at the Pan American Games.
