Brazil remains unstoppable in rhythmic gymnastics, securing gold in the 5 hoops

The South Americans scored 35.850 points to claim the gold medal, solidifying their second place in the Santiago 2023 medal table.

Friday, November 3rd, 2023.- Brazil continues its impressive surge in the Santiago 2023 medal table, adding another gold medal thanks to rhythmic gymnastics, further cementing their second-place position behind the leader, the United States.

The South American nation excelled in the 5 hoops event. Barbara Urquiza, Gabriella Coradine, Victoria Anderson, Giovanna Oliveira, and Nicole Pircio scored 35.850 points, surpassing Mexico and the United States on the podium.

Oliveira commented after their victory, saying, "It has been a very gratifying experience, a great day for the Brazilian delegation. This is thanks to the hard work that is reflected in both group and individual performances."

This gold medal for the Brazilian rhythmic gymnasts adds to their previous wins in the all-around, hoop and individual ball events, as well as the all-around team competition. In total, they have secured five golds, two silvers, and one bronze in the discipline, establishing themselves as the dominant force.

The Brazilian delegation has now earned 164 medals at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, consisting of 56 gold, 58 silver, and 50 bronze medals, maintaining their second-place position in the medal table, trailing only the United States.
