In the most exciting match of the championship, Brazil scored a major upset by defeating Canada at the Estadio Nacional pool, with a narrow 13-12 scoreline, engaging the Chilean audience who supported the South Americans.
Regarding the victory, Brazilian Gustavo Guimares said, "It was a very difficult game, with a lot of struggle and individual quality, but the Brazilian team made the difference in the final moments. We played well with a man up. We are happy with the success we've had, and we'll take some rest before thinking about the final."
Next up was the United States, which had no trouble overcoming Argentina and celebrated a clear 22-7 victory.
The Americans, reigning champions from Lima 2019, will face Brazil in the final on Saturday, starting at 8:30 p.m., while the third-place match between Canada and Argentina will take place at 7:00 p.m.
The team that wins the gold medal will secure a spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
