Breaking: The United States and Canada dominate in the B-Girls category

Americans Sunny and La Vix won their groups and have already advanced to the quarter-finals.

Friday, November 3rd, 2023.- One of the sports making its debut in the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games is breaking, a discipline that will also be included in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The competition takes place at Parque Peñalolén, where the first to hit the stage were the B-Girls, who thrilled the crowd filling the stands at the venue.

Breaking is judged by a panel of nine judges who evaluate competitors based on several criteria, including technique, musicality, vocabulary (variety of moves), execution (performance), creativity, and personality.

As it's become a tradition in these Pan American Games, the United States dominated and placed both their female breakdancers, Sunny and La Vix, in the quarter-finals. Canada did the same with Tiff and Emma.

Other participants who made it to the qualifying rounds include Luma from Colombia, Isis from Ecuador, Mini Japa from Brazil, and Swami from Mexico.

The Chilean representatives, Menta and Vale Chica, were unable to advance in their groups.

After their performance, Vale Chica said, "I felt the energy up there; it was beautiful. For us, being at home was important. We train together, and this experience adds a lot to our careers as dancers and athletes."

The final rounds will be held this Saturday, and medals will be awarded. The B-Girls champion and B-Boys champion will secure spots at the Olympic Games.
