Darlan Romani lives up to the favoritism and wins gold in shot put

The Brazilian athlete triumphed in the final with a throw of 21.36 meters, a mark well below his performance at the 2022 Belgrade Indoor World Championships, where he reached 22.53 meters.

Friday, November 3rd, 2023.- Darlan Romani from Brazil clinched the gold medal in the male's shot put. The athlete achieved his best mark in the fifth attempt, with a throw of 21.36 meters, in the event held at the National Stadium in front of a crowd of over 40,000 spectators.

In the Pan American final, he outperformed the Mexican Uziel Muñoz, who achieved the second-best mark with a throw of 21.15 meters, while the bronze went to the American Jordan Geist, with 20.53 meters.

Among the local competitors, the Chilean Matías Felipe Puschel finished in 12th place (last), with a best throw of just 16.20 meters.
