Argentina Defeats Mexico and Will Contend for Gold in Male's Basketball

Argentina overcomes the North American team and secures spots in the male's basketball final. They will compete for gold against the winner of the game between Brazil and Venezuela.

Friday, November 3rd, 2023.- Male basketball at Santiago 2023 has entered the decisive stages, with Argentina as the first major winner in this session by defeating Mexico 108-73 in the start of the semi-finals held at the Estadio Nacional's Polideportivo 1.

The Argentinian team didn't face major difficulties in overcoming the North Americans, establishing a substantial lead from the second quarter onwards after a surprising early advantage for Mexico.

However, the performances of Franco Baralle and Pedro Barral were crucial for the Albiceleste's breakout, with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Additionally, Claudio Ramírez contributed with eight rebounds on defense.

With this victory, Argentina awaits their opponent for the gold medal final, which will be determined by the winner of the match between Brazil and Venezuela scheduled to start at 8:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Mexico will face the loser of that encounter in the bronze medal match.
