Karate: Canada Claims Bronze in Female's Kata by Defeating Chile

Canadian athlete Claudia Laos Loo secured a bronze medal in the female's kata discipline by outscoring Chilean competitor Isidora Gallo.

Friday, November 3rd, 2023.- Canada added another medal to its tally at the 2023 Pan American Games, this time a bronze, following Claudia Laos Loo's victory over Chile's Isidora Gallo in the female's kata discipline of karate.

Gallo was the first to perform and received a score of 39.10 from the judges. Next up was Laos, who executed a better routine and earned a score of 40.10, securing the bronze medal.

After her performance, Gallo expressed, "It was very beautiful; I enjoyed it to the fullest. It's a unique opportunity, and it needs to be seized. The support from the audience was deeply felt, and I am grateful for all the encouragement I have received."

Regarding her performance, she was resolute: "I'm never completely satisfied; I always strive for a bit more. After analyzing it with my coach, we will work on correcting the details."
