The South Americans defeated the Dominicans 33-29 and will now face the winner of the match between Mexico and Cuba for the fifth and sixth place. The loser of that match will face the Dominicans for the seventh and eighth place.

Friday, November 3rd, 2023.- After being eliminated from the medal contention in the male's handball competition, Uruguay returned to victory this Friday. They secured a 33-29 win over the Dominican Republic in a match for the lower placings.

The South Americans were very close to reaching the top four, but they were narrowly eliminated by the United States. Now, they recovered with a tightly contested victory, in which they were consistently ahead on the scoreboard. In fact, they ended the first half with a 20-15 lead, and the Dominicans came closest in the final period, trailing by just two goals.

With this win, Uruguay will play for fifth and sixth place on Saturday against the winner of the match between Cuba and Mexico. The loser of that match will face the Dominican Republic for seventh and eighth place.

This afternoon, on the other hand, the semifinals will take place, featuring the matches Brazil vs. the United States and Argentina vs. Chile.
