Female's Water Polo: Chile came close, but lost again

The local team fell 15-13 to Cuba and will conclude their participation in the tournament by facing Puerto Rico for the seventh and eighth place. Meanwhile, the Cuban team will compete against Mexico for the fifth and sixth place.

Friday, November 3rd, 2023.- In their fifth and penultimate match in the female's water polo competition, Chile narrowly lost to Cuba with a score of 15-13, still unable to secure a victory. They will have one last opportunity to celebrate a win as they close their participation with a match against Puerto Rico for the seventh and eighth place, even though they had previously lost to Puerto Rico, they managed to put up a strong fight.

The Chilean team came close to celebrating on Friday once again. They were trailing 9-5 after the first two quarters, and by the end of the third quarter, they were down 13-8. However, they made a comeback in the final quarter, narrowing the gap to two goals, but time ran out for them.

The Cuban team will play for the fifth and sixth place on Saturday against Mexico, which secured its first victory against Puerto Rico on Friday.

During the rest of the day, the semifinals will be played. The United States will face Argentina, and Canada will compete against Brazil, with the North American teams being the clear favorites.
