Female's Water Polo: Mexico Secures first victory

In a match for secondary positions, the Mexican team secured a 10-9 victory over Puerto Rico. They will now face either Cuba or Chile to compete for the fifth and sixth place. The loser of that match will go up against the Puerto Rican team for the seventh and eighth positions.

Friday, November 3rd, 2023.- In a match for secondary positions, the Mexican team achieved their first victory by defeating Puerto Rico 10-9 in a closely contested game. They will now compete for the fifth and sixth place against the winner of the match between Chile and Cuba, while the loser of that game will face the Puerto Rican team for the seventh and eighth positions.

The Mexican team had lost all three of their group stage matches, and in the quarterfinals, they were defeated by the United States. Puerto Rico, on the other hand, had only managed to secure a victory against Chile in the group stage before falling to Argentina in the quarterfinals.

Throughout the match, Mexico held the upper hand during the first two quarters, which ended with a score of 6-3. However, Puerto Rico managed to equalize at 6-6 during the third quarter, making the final outcome uncertain until the last moment.

In the second match of the day, Chile will face Cuba at 09:30 a.m., followed by the semifinals featuring the United States against Argentina at 11:00 a.m. and Canada against Brazil at 12:30 p.m.
